Here at Elysian Capital Holdings we effectively join SMART PEOPLE, with SMART CAPITAL, to ultimately create SMART BUSINESS. Who are these SMART PEOPLE you may ask? Elysian Inside takes a look beyond the professional biographies and gives you an inside look at the HEART of Elysian Capital Holdings.
This month, we feature Paula Rezza, Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer for Elysian Capital Holdings, LLC. She also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Elysian Capital Markets Group.
Q: It has been two years since you left corporate America, catch us up, what have you been up to for the past two years since founding Elysian Capital Holdings?
A: It has been the best experience of my life and one of the most challenging things I have ever done. Naturally, you want everything to run smoothly and efficiently. Through it all, you learn how to deal with every situation, and turn everything into a win in the end.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?
A: I cherish the autonomy of starting a new venture. When you need to get something done, you are able to get it done without having to go through multiple layers of management. I have been in this industry for over 25 years, so the fun part is calling upon the amazing people within my network. It is refreshing to contact some of my favorite colleagues and those amazing people that I’ve met through the years without the restrictions imposed by sales territories or mandates. THAT’S when I am most productive!
Q: As a founder of a start up, what unique challenges have you encountered? What advice would you give to someone else starting their own company?
A: I have encountered several situations which reinforce the notion that you learn something new every single day. I embrace every obstacle and accept that there are times when we don’t have all the answers. Rather, I take these as ideal opportunities to listen and seek out new and unique solutions. Sometimes going outside of your comfort zone and making a difficult decision will yield tremendous results.
Q: Do you have a quote you like to live by? What does it mean to you?
“It’s never too late to start your day over.”
Shared with me by my son. A poignant statement that always makes me take a breath, reflect upon the moment and find answers.
“You should set goals beyond your reach so you always have something to live for.” – Ted Turner
Q: What is your greatest accomplishment?
A: First and foremost, being a mother. Another one of my greatest accomplishments is founding and growing Elysian. I am thrilled to be part of a thriving new venture that I am able to pour my heart and soul into.
Q: What 3 things do you think about the most each day?
Growing my business;
Online shopping ☺
Q: What is your unique ability?
A: My unique ability lies in meeting and engaging with so many personalities.
Q: As a die hard Cubs Fan, tell us how your celebrated the historic World Series 2016 win of your Chicago Cubs?
A: I took my son, who is the real die hard Cubs fan, to the parade in Wrigleyville!
