Q: What personal accomplishment have you achieved that has shaped your career?
A: An accomplishment that has shaped my career is having received my Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration. Throughout high school and within my first 18 months of college, I made it a point to avoid challenging myself academically at all. I lacked any sort of discipline, and I had managed to get by with little to no studying. Upon being asked to leave the school, I spent 6 months drifting and I realized quickly that not receiving a college degree would not be an option for me. I was readmitted and I changed my major from Theater to Economics and learned that if I applied myself, I could achieve and accomplish anything I set out to do.
Q: What makes you excited about Mondays?
A: Four days until Whiskey Friday.
Q: What do you value most about a company’s culture and vision?
A: I value the people that a company’s culture and vision can attract, and of course, I value those people who sincerely believe in the vision.
Q: Do you have a quote you like to live by? What does it mean to you?
A: “We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams.”
— Willie Wonka
To me, this means that if we can dream and believe in what we dream, we can indeed achieve it. It is your own personal responsibility to dream, and while others can help you achieve your dreams, they must start from within.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your career?
A: I continue to learn something new every day.
Q: What 3 things do you think about the most each day?
A: My wife Mary-Lyn and my son Brent; Doing right; and The world we live in — past, present and future.
Q: Who is your hero? Why?
A: I don’t know that I have a specific hero, but my heroes are those who have done extraordinary things in their lives while facing extreme challenges… and nobody knows who they are or what they did. Heroes are all around us.
