Here at Elysian Capital Holdings, we effectively join SMART PEOPLE, with SMART CAPITAL, to ultimately create SMART BUSINESS. Who are these SMART PEOPLE you may ask? Elysian Inside takes a look beyond the professional biographies and gives you an inside look at the HEART of Elysian Capital Holdings.
This month, we feature Kelly Fox, Partner, Director of Communications and Social Media at Elysian Capital Holdings, LLC, Partner at Elysian Capital Markets Group, LLC, and Communications and Social Media for Elysian Private Capital Group.
Q: Prior to your career at Elysian CH, you worked exclusively in Business Development. Tell us what you are doing now?
A: I am so thankful for my years in business development. I had the opportunity to meet and work with so many wonderful and talented people. My business development years helped me develop my relationship, leadership, and negotiating skills that I continue to use every day as I work to expand and make people aware of Elysian and our affiliates’ brand, mission, news and best of all educate the masses on the very thing that makes Elysian stand out from the rest…our people!
Social media, in my opinion, is the next frontier in business relationships. Rather than meeting with someone face to face, it has become easier to reach out to someone via InMail, iMessage, or video conference. Because of technology, clients are more in control of how they consume information. People rarely want to spend 20 minutes of their day talking on the phone about your solutions. Instead, they can quickly Google anything they want to know about you, your solutions and your company. Time appears to move more quickly than it ever has before and their time is precious. My challenge every day is to determine how Elysian can generate leads and business opportunities through communication and social media. My ultimate goal is to build long-lasting professional relationships by cutting through the noise and establishing a bond that still transcends social media…making that human connection.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
A: I once asked my mentor how I could ever thank him for the time, advice and guidance he had given me. He said, very simply, “pay it forward, the time and guidance I have given you, provide that to someone else so they might experience the same success you have.”
Q: Think back 5 years ago. Did you envision this is where you would be?
A: In some ways, yes! I remember having a conversation with a peer of mine in the financial services industry. We were at a conference and the product I was selling was going through some challenging changes. My friend’s product was doing really well. We were discussing financial products and how quickly they change. I remember telling her how I had started to open my mind to other ideas, and to the notion of being open and ready for the next frontier in financial services. I also expressed my desire to work with people I admire and consider mentors. Funny, out of all the conversations I have had, I can still remember this one. I distinctly remember the conference, the hotel, even the wallpaper on the walls. I remember it all, plain as day. I really feel I was speaking to my destiny that day.
Q: Professionally speaking, what are you most grateful for?
A: I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to work with incredible people throughout my career. I have been able to learn and work with individuals who have guided me with their wisdom, shared their knowledge and helped me see a situation from a different perspective.
Q: What song, would you say, best sums you up?
A: “Golden” from Jill Scott’s album Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2
Q: How do you stay on track and successfully work from home?
A: I am frequently asked this question. My answer is surprisingly still the same as it was when I worked in an office, I live and succeed by my schedule! Elysian is located in Orange County, California and I live in Denver, Colorado. My schedule accounts for time zone differences and hours within which I can be most productive. There are non-negotiable parts of my schedule that allow me to check tasks off my list, while remaining organized, diligent and focused.
